Milltown Christmas Market 2016
It’s that time of year again, and like it or not, Christmas shopping is moving up a gear. Christmas markets are getting well under way, and the Milltown Christmas market is no exception. It runs on the last Sunday of November every year in the Milltown Parish Hall, and is very well run. I started doing this market back when I was selling wooden spoons, forks and knives. I was around 13 years old at the time, so that makes this year’s market my 6th in a row.
As always, I was a bit nervous when setting up – will people show up, will people buy? Luckily, I need not have worried. The market fills up especially after mass is over, so there is usually a big influx of people around those times. This year, I really enjoyed meeting all the regular faces, and talking with customers about what feedback they could give me about my products.
I had some really nice pens this year, made from bog oak, bog yew, yew, ash, oak and a host of other woods, and they sold particuarly well. Keep an eye out on my online shop over the next few days, I’ll be adding a few of these one-off pens!
Thanks to everyone at the Milltown Parish centre for organising the fair, I hope to be back next year!
